Vielen Dank!Hello, I'm interested in your car. Could you send me a photo of the certificate of conformity (COC)? The page with the CO2 values is enough. Thank you!
Several risk signals
High risk
It’s the most common scam: the money goes, the car doesn’t exist.
What to do:
Don’t pay anything upfront, not even €200. You pay in person, for the keys and the Teil I and Teil II papers.
Cross-border purchase: car in Germany, to be registered in France. Get a VIN history report before paying. It compares the mileages recorded over the years.

1.Check the car and its papers
How to do itShow lessAsk for the VIN and photos of: Zulassungsbescheinigung Teil I, and of the certificate of conformity (COC). The name on the papers must be the seller’s.
2.Have it inspected before paying

4.Germany: deregistration and export plates
How to do itShow lessAgree the deregistration (Abmeldung) with the seller. To drive it home you need export plates (Ausfuhrkennzeichen) from the registration office: valid inspection (HU), a special policy and the tax paid. German short-term plates (Kurzzeitkennzeichen) are only valid in Germany.

Service-public: registering a used vehicleService-public: roadworthiness test
8.Conformity: the COC
How to do itShow lessThe manufacturer’s European certificate of conformity (it can be digital). Without it, you need an individual approval (RTI) from the DREAL.
9.Carte grise application at the ANTS
How to do itShow lessOnline only (FranceConnect or France Identité), or through an authorised professional. You pay the taxes in the calculation and get a provisional certificate to drive 1 month in France.
